About UKtech

UKtech is the personal website of Tim Brison, an IT professional with over 18 years experience in technical support and management.

Originally conceived as a useful resource for friends and family, it has been distilled over the years to concentrate on providing basic computing solutions, to help you get the most out of your computer.

The links across the top will help you to setup and configure your PC, according to industry best practices. The main body of links on the home page concentrate on getting everyday things done - like looking words up in a dictionary to checking the weather.

Use the top menu bar, to get information on how to use industry best practices to configure your PC!

Audience

This site is intended for anyone to use - but the help and support pages (menu items at the top), focus on basic configurations and set-ups for the new to intermediate user.

However, there are some advanced topics covered - Backups and Security for example, which could be beneficial to expert users. It wouldn't be the first time I have provided support to IT professionals whose backup regimes are less than ideal!

Information provided is Microsoft based only - this site takes a considerable amount of time and effort to keep up-to-date - it is beyond my abilities to do more I'm afraid.

However, the basic concepts can usually be ported to other platforms - Apple Mac or Linux for instance, as there is considerable similarity - just different implementations.
